About Resident Evil 1, 2 & 3

The very first officially survival horror game appeared in 1996 by the name Resident Evil. Although the mechanic of that game was already present in Alone in the Dark in 1992, exactly Resident Evil gave the genre a name and set the quality standart on a new level of production. Resident Evil was set in a "science fiction virus broke loose incident" that spread across the town known as Raccoon City, infecting every citizen. The plot of the game is filled with different conspiracies, government secrets, powerful pharmaceuticals corporations with desire to dominate the entire planet. The first game kicks off in a big Gothic mansion filled with secrets and introduces some creepy looking zombies. These infected with T virus people very much like to feed on your flesh, so you must all the time keep a safe distance and conserve ammunition and just run from the fight if such choice is possible. At the beginning you can choose your main character. Progressing through the same story with different characters will reveal a lot of interesting situations and will give you answers to some questions regarding the plot. Only after the game is completed with each of two characters you will completely understand the plot, which by the way is not hard at all. There is also a big difference in gameplay style of each character. For example if you choose Chris Redfield you'll rely more on your brute force and a lot of health. Jill on the other hand can alone progress through the puzzle where she needs to play the piano, but Chris in that situation can only kiss his big biceps. To progress he must first find a female survivor from Bravo Team, only then she will help Chris play the piano. The second game experimented with this concept even further. There were special places where you could leave items for another character. And by choosing different character your campaign differed quite a lot, not only by gameplay style, but also by content and one monster. Resident Evil 2 is like two different games in one package that must be completed to finish the game as a whole, because only after the second campaign is beaten, the true ending will be revealed. The third game is the biggest of them all. It's like playing the prequel to Resident Evil 2, the events of Resident Evil 2 from another perspective, and the sequel to Resident Evil 2. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis featured open world mechanic in a dead and filled with zombies Raccoon City. The bad ass main character Jill Valentine made a triumphant return as a mean woman in a short skirt with a long shotgun. The game paranoia increased with apparition of a new monster that was created to hunt and kill all S.T.A.R.S. members. So the player never knew when and where this big unstoppable killing machine will begin to stalk. The whole game turned into paranoid cat and mouse hunt. And atop of all that there is also a great crafting mechanic which allows you to create different kinds of ammunition for combating the enemies. These three classic Resident Evil games are a must play just like the three Alone in the Dark and Silent Hill games. It's like Scorpions, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest of the gaming world. The games were released on PC and PS one. There are ways and fixes to play these on PC and emulators to emulate the PS one versions, just use google and you'll manage, so just buy them and teach the future generations to respect the old classics. The other era's of evolution of Resident Evil series and the direction the series took will be discussed in the future, because those games are masterpieces as well, but in other aspects.
